Technique Swap

Faux Leather

I am in a swap with some TAC ladies where we have to create a card with a "technique". I chose the faux leather technique.

For this technique you need the following supplies:
White Fun Foam (I like the kind with adhesive on back)
Heat Gun
Stamps
Brown Ink (I used Palette Burnt Umber)

Technique:
First you cut the fun foam a little bit bigger than the desired finished size (it will shrink a little bit). Heat the fun foam with the heat gun until the edges curl up. Immediately press the stamp firmly into the heated fun foam for about 15 seconds. Apply brown ink directly to the fun foam. Rub the ink until the desired look is achieved. Impressed areas will stay white or lighter, giving it a tooled look. Trim and use accordingly.

Faux Card

For this card I used the technique above with the TAC Spring Flowers set. I mounted everything on dark brown paper. I stamped the leaves randomly at the bottom with Palette Burnt Umber ink and "thanks" from the Tag Tidbits set is also stamped with that ink. Tan grosgrain ribbon was added to the middle of the card.

Thanks for stopping by ... hope you try out this technique!

Hey Chelsea, I got my swap and I LOVE it! One question, mine had the flower image DEbossed and this blog post looks like it is EMbossed, so did you use one side of the fun foam for mine and the other side of the fun foam for this post? Ohmigosh! That is just too cool. My class ladies loved your card and just wait until I tell them this new twist!
