Christmas in July Blog Hop

Today over on Paper Wings they are sponsoring a blog hop dedicated to Christmas in July.

For my project today I made an ornament.
It is inspired by Angela Kelley's ornament that she did last year. I modified it a bit.

I used the snowman from Jingle Jolly and colored him with my copics. I tore white snow and added grey ink to the edges. You use the clear tin covering that you pop out and use as a guide for cutting and fitting your pieces in. I made many layers in my tin using layers of fun foam to give the project depth. I added clear seed beads for a shaker and snow globe effect. I added blue ribbon to the outside of the tin and added silver hanging thread to which I added a bow.

OK OK OK ....

I have heard your pleads for pictures and details of my week at CHA.

It has been AMAZING!!!
Learned a lot, saw a lot of friends, made new friends, and it's not over yet!!!

It all started with my Ranger Avenue class on Monday taught by Jenni Bowlin, Claudine Hellmuth, and the legendary Tim Holtz!

These were our supplies waiting for us when we walked into class.

This was our final finished piece put together.

Each teacher taught and we made their "door" in their style and then we put them all together with a nail hinge.

From left to right - Jenni Bowlin's door, Claudine Hellmuth's door, and Tim Holtz's door

For Jenni's door we used Studio paint, her ink, and a lot of her paraphernalia.

For Claudine's door we used Studio paint, inked embossed metal, and her stamps

For Tim's door we used tissue tape, distress stains, distress inks, and lots of paraphernalia.

After class he even signed my book (Compendium of Curiosities) for me!

Next was my Melt Art class .... and I must say WOW!!!

This is the display of the new Melt Art by Tim and all of the new packaging.

Tim has taken over this line at ranger as the previous woman who was doing it has retired .... and again ... all I can say is WOW ... be prepared to be re-introduced to UTE (Ultra thick Embossing Powder)

Here is what our stations looked like for the Melt Art class.

Yummy.....

Now we did ALL of the following with one fill up of the Melting Pot with the clear UTE! and then colored along the way

This was a charm that was provided by Vintaj (more about them in another post). We took their antique charm and used the back underside. We inked it and then poured the clear UTE in the back of it.

These are Prima flowers that we dipped in the clear UTE and it crystallized them for this brooch.

These were shrinky dinks that we put in the UTE for a extra glossy effect. we then inked them and added photos.

This is clay that you can make molds out of. We used the white flower button as out mold and them we made rings by coloring the UTE and putting it into the mold. We added a brad while it was cooling and then attached it to a ring. I made one out of black a little later.

Next we added a stripe of white, black, and pewter to our pots and swirled it into a Memory Frame.

After that we turned the UTE black and then dipped chipboard pieces into it. we then quickly stamped words on it for a fun effect. These were then colored using Perfect Pearls. (much prettier in person)

The final project intrigued me ... We laid a Memory frame onto a stamp (with swirls) ... We then poured the UTE into the frame and let it cool. When we picked it up .. viola ... the fun swirls were back. We colored this with perfect pearls too.

Today I was at the Ideology booth to make a Make and Take and who should walk up to be my teacher but Tim Holtz himself ... me and him one on one! Ahhh!

We made this birdcage while chatting about his AWESOME Melt class! See the owl in the back of the birdcage ...

Here I am with my new BFF (sorry Kim!!!)

ENJOY!!!

Hope to have more tomorrow!!!!!

Die Cut Flower - Summer Camp Card

I love love love that TAC is starting to carry Sizzix dies again! This is one that we are now carrying called Tattered Florals. For this card I die cut the flowers out of corrugated and then stacked them using a brad ... I added the bling to the center of the brad. I added red baker's twine and a sentiment from the new Say Hello set.

I like using the corrugated to give the item some dimension and texture.
This is what the dies look like ... I used one of each in my piece above.

I also used the color combo for this week on this card.

ENJOY!

Merry Chris-MICE!!

It sure doesn't feel like Christmas!

But this week TAC is celebrating Christmas in July!

Here is the card that I made for this occasion:

Invasion of the Chris-mice

I have been wanting to do a scene card like this ever since I got this set.

I stamped them all on green card stock and cut out all of the ornaments. I also stamped them all on yellow card stock and cut out all of the ornament tops. Then I stamped them all on white and then colored and cut out all of the mice. I added the sentiment and a few gems.

To add a little interest I added glossy accents to different parts of the ornaments. See above.

ENJOY!

Ooops!

** WARNING ... I swear in this post **

OK ... I goofed!

A friend of mine at work's birthday was last month ... she was on vacation that day and I forgot her birthday ... then the next day passed and I forgot her birthday ... then the next day passed and I forgot her birthday ... then the next day passed and I forgot her birthday ... and so on and so on.

Then the girl across from her had a birthday and I made her a card (at this point I am so hoping that the other girl DID NOT notice) ... well of course I am caught and she totally pointed it out!

So I said ... I guess I'll have to make you an "I'm an ass card". She said that would serve you right! LOL!

Well ... I thought and thought ... how am I going to do this ... then it hit me ... there is a donkey image in TAC's Sweet Nativity set. I used that and colored it with my copics. I used the sentiment from Ordinary Greetings. Then I added some of the new baker's twine in the catalog in grey and added a pink flower.

And for the inside of the card ....

ENJOY!

Spotlighting

Today over on the Savvy blog, they are showcasing the spotlighting technique.
When I heard this, I thought some of the new vintage stamps would be GREAT for this!

Drama!

This stamp is so true!! LOL!

This stamp is called Live Simply and it is the new catalog by The Angel Company. I stamped it twice and puched 2 cirles out of one of them ... I colored the cirle parts with my copics and then pop-dotted the circles ... I put it on some fun wrinkled cardstock and then added lace and pearls. I love it!

ENJOY!

I am also entering this in a few other challenges:

Color Combo - Week #2

This week is the 2nd week of the Online Summer Card Camp.
I am loving all of the tips, tricks, videos, and inspiration!

Here is my card using the color combo for the week:

I used a new stamp set from The Angel Company called Dotty Flowers. I absolutely love this look and these colors on the kraft cardstock. I added buttons to the centers of the flowers and tied scrapper's floss bows in each one. The sentiment is from Great Greetings.

ENJOY!!!

People Pics from Seminar

Every year Seminar flies by like a blur ... and this year was no exception!

I bring my camera every year but don't take too many pics! UGH!

Here is what I got ....

me, Mischelle, and Kerry at the Awards Banquet

me and Kerry (my awesome downline!) ... she inspires me everyday with her creativity!

Me and my blogging Friend Shirley .. Shirley and I have mostly been on-line friends and we have exchanged a swap or two!

Shirley won the Angel of the Year award at Seminar! ... you can see her tiara slightly peeking out on top of her head!

Shirley had her toes painted special for Seminar!!! That must have been why she won Angel of the Year :)

Ok ... now Christine ... seriously we had no pictures of us together???
That's what I mean ... but Christine and I probably spent the most time together as she was such an Angel to pick me up at the Kansas City Airport and drive me to Wichita as my flight was cancelled. Next year Christine ... pictures!
