Blog Hop - Jolly Santa
Welcome to this month's Blog Hop sponsored by Paper Wings! Paper Wings is a great community site devoted to The Angel Company. Since today is July 25th (6 months to Christmas), we are making Christmas items in July!
Be Jolly
One thing that makes me jolly is my copic markers!!!
I am so glad that the Angel Company has decided to carry them and now you can order them in color coordinated sets!!! What fun!
For this card I used the Christmas Minis stamp set. I stamped the Santa randomly on white cardstock with Black Memento Ink and then colored him with my copics.
Here is just the background colored with copics C1 (my favorite grey), R29 Lipstick Red, and E21 Baby Skin Pink. You might say I am crazy for coloring all of these little guys ... but I just LOVE making my own background paper ... and how FUN is this background paper!
In order to color in small little places with your copics, here is a trick that I learned ... there is some mechanism in the marker that when you take both caps off allows a slower release of the ink and thus much more controlled and ability to get into small spaces. I do this and use the brush end for the small spaces .. it works great!
Did you know copics work great for coloring items. I love to buy these gems and then color them with my copics. Just apply them to your project and use the brush tip to color the tops of the gems. No more needing to buy red gems, pink gems, blue gems and green gems ... just CLEAR!!
Here is my finished project! Simple but fun...

what cute hand-crafted background paper! sooo neat! love the reminder to color dewdrops with copics!
What a great card - who would have thought!!! Can't wait to try your tip with Copics - removing both caps. I have a lot of trouble with the Lipstick Red wanting to go everywhere. Can't wait now to try. TFS.
Great card!! I LIke your marker tip, but I have had the opposite effect, when one of my makers had a loose cap on one end the ink flooded out from the end I was using and made a mess. ? Love your card!!
well aren't you just the smartest ms Chelsea!?! LOVE your card and THANK YOU for the fabulous tips...so going to be coloring me some clear rhinestones!
Too stinkin cute!
oh my goodness gracious - my friend! This card just makes me smile! great job!!!!!!!
Love your card dear Chelsea!!! you did a great job!
Chelsea - what a great card. Love how you created your own background! Thanks much for the tips on how to slow the release of the ink and coloring gems! I'll be trying both.
Fabulous card!! And thanks for the tip about the Copic markers. I'm just getting started with them. I'll try that if I have problems.
How dang adorable! Love it! You are the best!
So cute! You do great background papers with those minis!
Absolutely FABULOUS!!!! This card is perfect! I love the tips you gave as well.
Very cute, Chelsea! LOVE how you created your own paper, and coloring the gems was a perfect touch!!
Great card and I love the tip about the Copics! I love those gems but haven't liked having to buy them in all the colors I want! Thanks!
What a fun card! Love the "dancing" Santas :)
Love it!!! I don't know why I didn't think of this!!! Great card, Chelsea - so happy!!! Great tip on the Copics too!
Super Cute Chelsea! Love the hint for the gems : )
OMGosh! I love your background paper. That's a LOT of coloring, totally a labor of love. And thank you, THANK YOU for sharing that tip about removing both caps to slow down ink dispersal. The darker colors seem to love to seep over the lines, but now I'll be able to inhibit the ink...yayyyyy.
That is such a cute card! Thanks for the tip about slowing down the flow when using the copics, too. I didn't know that.
