Open House Cards

I hope you enjoyed the virtual tour of my open house. (see next post if you didn't see it already)
These are the cards that we made ... it's funny ... everyone had their favorite ... most picked the one that I really did not like too much ... but that's why I try to make so many different kinds/samples.

Thankful am I

This is done with Versamark ink on Kraft cardstock and used the Stamp of the Month for July called Happily Grateful. With the Versamark we used chalks to color the leaves. I also used the new set called Fundamental Frames and used a nestability to cut out the frame. We added a few gems that we colored with copics. Then the corners were rounded with the Corner Chomper.

Thank Ewe

This card used the new set called Spring Friends and was stamped with Memento. We then played with some copic markers to color it. Added a strip of the new Emma paper which we tied scrapper's floss to. We used punches to punch out the sheep and the scalloped circle that he was mounted on.

Whale Hello

We used the new Oh Happy Day set on this card. I had a demonstration of how to color with the copics and how to shade. We added some glitter to the water stream with Stardust Glitter Pens. Added a scallop circle, patterned paper, and ribbon. Cute and easy!

Shake them Feathers

This card used the new Tail Feathers set. We colored it with colored pencils, Odorless Mineral Spirits, and Blending Stumps. I also did a little tutorial to show how to use the OMS with blending stumps. For the bottom of the card we used one of the dotted borders from the new set Background Soup with Palette L'Amore Red ink.

Birthday Wishes

For this card we started by making lines with the Scorbug and then sanding them lightly to create the dotted lines. Then we stamped "birthday wishes" from Thinking of You and embossed it. Then we masked that area and stamped flowers and leaves from the Blossoms and Blessings set and embossed those. Then we punched a small hole and wove white scrapper's floss through the card.

Everyone had a great time and I enjoyed sharing these projects with them. If you live locally (Rockford, IL) and would like to attend my next open house please be sure to either email me or sign up for my newsletter (on the left) so that you will be aware of all of my happenings.

Open House

Thanks to all of my local peeps for coming over to my open house this past weekend!

I often get questions from other Angels and people interested in my Open House in how I do it.
So I thought I'd share ....

I had 5 stations located throughout my 1st floor and each had it's own project. I have all of the cardstock and supplies laid out and instructions in a frame. People can go at their own pace and call me over if they ever need help.

I also have a catalog viewing station with loads of samples too to look at.
Here are the pictures of my workshop tables:

Some of the tables are sittable and others you stand at (counter height).

I have fun music playing in the background and you just keep moving. I love it! I also love visiting with my customers while they are making their projects. It's a fun time to catch up a little on what is going in in their lives.

This year I had my open house on Saturday and then took the show on the road on Sunday to another person's house about 45 minutes away.

Thanks for looking ... tomorrow I will share the cards that we made.
ENJOY!

Blog Hop - Jolly Santa

Welcome to this month's Blog Hop sponsored by Paper Wings! Paper Wings is a great community site devoted to The Angel Company. Since today is July 25th (6 months to Christmas), we are making Christmas items in July!

Be Jolly

One thing that makes me jolly is my copic markers!!!
I am so glad that the Angel Company has decided to carry them and now you can order them in color coordinated sets!!! What fun!

For this card I used the Christmas Minis stamp set. I stamped the Santa randomly on white cardstock with Black Memento Ink and then colored him with my copics.

Here is just the background colored with copics C1 (my favorite grey), R29 Lipstick Red, and E21 Baby Skin Pink. You might say I am crazy for coloring all of these little guys ... but I just LOVE making my own background paper ... and how FUN is this background paper!

In order to color in small little places with your copics, here is a trick that I learned ... there is some mechanism in the marker that when you take both caps off allows a slower release of the ink and thus much more controlled and ability to get into small spaces. I do this and use the brush end for the small spaces .. it works great!

Did you know copics work great for coloring items. I love to buy these gems and then color them with my copics. Just apply them to your project and use the brush tip to color the tops of the gems. No more needing to buy red gems, pink gems, blue gems and green gems ... just CLEAR!!

Here is my finished project! Simple but fun...

ENJOY and please visit my other TAC Angel's Blogs in this fun Blog Hop!

Welcome!

This card should actually say "Welcome Back" ... I made 2 of these for Angels that left TAC a few years ago, but have missed it and took advantage of the July special for former Angels to come back to TAC for FREE!

I used the new stamp set Hello Day (which I love ... she has such attitude!). I colored her with Copics. I married a sentiment from Ordinary Greetings with the company name stamp that I got in a seminar set. I added black and white patterned paper, purple ribbon, and gems (colored purple).

Very classy color combo and I hope it makes them feel welcome! I am excited to have them back at TAC and part of my team!

Hip to be Square

Square

This was another card that I submitted to TAC that didn't make it into the catty.

It is a 5" x 5" square card. It uses the Be Square stamp set. I stamped him with Rich Cocoa Memento ink and colored him with copics. The sentiment is also stamped with the Cocoa ink. I added Glossy Accents to the eyeballs and added square eyelets to the lower corner. There are lots of cardstock layers on this card (all square).

Enjoy!

Bubbles

This was a card that I submitted to TAC as part of their design call last spring. It was not chosen for the catty, but I really liked it.

It uses the Spunky Sprite Boys set. I colored him with copics and then punched a bunch of blue circles out of cardstock. I pop-dotted them all at different levels and then added stickles to them.

Enjoy!

Knee Surgery

A friend of mine is having knee surgery this week. I made this card for her in hopes to cheer her up. The image is from the new Level A set One of a Kind (which is FREE with a $100 order/party). The girl's legs are pop-dotted and there is a small band aid on her knee. The band aid is from the English Everyday Cutie set and so is the sentiment.

I used Labels 1 nestability and added ribbon and gems. I colored her with copics.

Enjoy!

What's UP Hedgehog??!!!

Ok ... first I must say ... "Sorry Mischelle! Barb MADE me do it!" :)

We had conversations at the TAC Seminar of the "monkey in the catalog" (or otherwise known as the hedgehog in the catalog) ... it is with the Oh Happy Day set on page 54 ... The best part of the story was that Paula Kay Bourland (the most prim and proper TAC Angel) actually pointed this out to Mischelle on how she had to make sure to color the flower petal green. Mischelle (the head of TAC) had no idea and turned 10 shades of red when Paula Kay told her this!

So then Barb Foster challenged me to make some hedgehog cards .... well here they are! And please note ... I only colored one of the flower petals green!

Hedgehog Love

For this card I paired the hedgehogs up with the baby hedgehogs from Hedgehog Happiness! I colored them with my copics. I added flowers, gems, and a ribbon around the nestie frame. Color of petal: brown.

Flower in Pocket

I added a flower and gems to this card with circle frames. I colored them with my copics. The patterned paper is from Uptown Girl. I pop-dotted the sentiment. Color of petal: blue.

Censored

I added some black ric rac and a pink bow along with a sentiment from Everyday English Cuties. I colored them with my copics. Color of petal: grey.

The Barb Foster Hedgehogs

So in honor of Barb Foster, I made this card "very Barb" ... ie dark, haunted, and in halloween colors.

Mischelle had told us that she had a personalized stamp made to go with some of our new deer stamps and it said "Do these antlers make me look horny?" ... so I took that idea and changed it up a bit for this sentiment.

I scraplifted the idea of the woven part from Barb's card on page 99 of the new catalog! (I truly love that card Barb). I used all of the "Barb" colors - black, orange, purple, green, and more black. I used my copics and sponged and distressed with my black ink. I added flowers and a brad and pop-dotted the sentiment. Color of petal: green.

Enjoy ... Hope you like these Barb!!
